Not many people gave him a shot but it seems that Carl Pavano might yet surprise us all with a good showing on the CY Young Award for the current season. He has had a strong finish and I for one would love to see him prove the doubters wrong. He also might be looking at a great free agent season status in the following season. He is currently twelve to six and three point two six for the earned run average. Far too often we are quick to write off the players when they are in a spot of bother. It would be a great thing if they could prove all the doubters and make a strong finish. This would be a great story to celebrate for 2010. At the time when MLB baseball is trying to expand the fan base, it is also good that we are seen to support our young players or people that have faced a problem with their careers. The negativity just pulls them back.
And now for news of a possible return for Livan Hernandez as part of the Nationals. He will face some stiff competition in a rotation system where young pitchers are hungry for the opportunity to show what they can do. One wonders whether he regrets some of the decisions that he has made in the past. However we cannot underestimate the value that Livan Hernandez can bring to any major league tournament. He has been there and done that. It is therefore not outside the realms of reality that his return on this occasion will become quite triumphant. On the other hand there is a risk that he might not be at his best, thus leaving the fans with less than fond memories of what was. Some people are of the view that it is better to leave when you are at your best. Once you leave a project it might be a good idea not to return to it unless you know what you are doing in such a venture.
There United States of America is not the most popular nation on earth but they could all do with a boost from the Soccer World Cup 2010. Nobody thought about the USA when it came to the game. They were just the team that came from a big nation that could not get to grips with soccer. In fact the English fans were already predicting a comfortable score that would take them to the top of the group. Things did not go the way that they had been planned. When they played England, the team refused to buckle. They were not going to concede a goal to the prima donnas of the tournament. The English side decided to use the excuse of a lone mistake from the goalkeeper to somehow denigrate the performance of the USA team. Then England faced the even lowlier Algeria and ended up with a draw. It was quite clear that the English team was facing some serious problems.
The action for the transatlantic friends then moved to Slovenia. For the first part of the game it appeared that the USA had met its match. A two nil score was very much on the cards and people were already going back to the draw to see how it could help England if the USA was beaten. The USA then clawed back the two goals and it even appeared that they had won the match altogether. The English team was left reeling at their over confident predictions and the USA public was stunned at the exploits of their less fancied team. We should not get too carried away because of the draws but there is definitely something going on with the success of the USA team.
It would be such an inspiring story if they managed to win the Soccer World Cup 2010 trophy. They are the team that was not really given a chance but they have proved that they play with a big heart and they are not threatened by the different favorite teams that come their way.
The Mavericks have a talent in their swingman who has been able to bring a new dimension to their game and tactics. He has contributed to giving them winning chances when it seemed as if all was lost in the early stages of a particular game. In the Phoenix stakes, Marion Shawn was able to stage and interesting comeback. This feat has been achieved before by some great names within the NBA Basketball sport. For example Marion achieved it in the 2006 play off set. The Detroit Pistons also overturned a three to one deficit in the first round of a 2003 tournament. It takes courage and determination to pull off such a stunt in the face of the NBA Basketball spectators. The victor can feel an elation that is almost heavenly in its inception.
For the beaten team the demoralization can increase with the constant taunts about choking in the face of victory. For some NBA Basketball players this kind of problem can lead to the loss of confidence and therefore a bad run of results. Like any other sport the NBA Basketball league is mostly about the confidence of the player in their ability to deliver the kinds of results that can take them to the top of the league tables. Once this confidence is eroded then the NBA Basketball results will start to fade until they are a distant memory. Thus although the winning team can celebrate its comeback, the losing team has to consider how their tactics might have failed them in the first place. The NBA Basketball coach will have to help the team overcome the demoralization.
Despite the defeat with a score of ninety two points to eighty nine points, Marion was still optimistic about the prospects of the team. He was of the view that a comeback is still possible. Whilst one can admire his positivity in the face of failure, the reality is that such comebacks are not a common place occurrence. The more likely outcome is that they will lose the series and have to consider their NBA Basketball tactics.
